hi peeps looking a this add on gumtree[http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/russian-telescope/105247499] he says 6 yrs old but the  plate has a a serial of 0363 2000 [so buit 2000 any hoo  2 questions .it is a tal 1 [got him to measure across scope comes out at 5.5 inches ] [so is the 110 mm mirror i would guess] also what checks should i look for [mirror etc and how to check collimation

hmmm sure looks like a Tal 1, a little expensive at 100 as they often go for less,
70ish I'd have thought.

Are you going to go see it ?

I'd check the focuser action and the state of the mirror, collimation should be easy
to fix but it might be worth trying to focus on a distant feature.

I'd also check the mount action.

cheers spooky. thought it was worth about 70-80 quid myself  he seems stuck at 100 so it aint worth it [he said he has the receipt and it cost 350 6 yrs ago [again thought that was dear even then for a tal1 ] will give it a miss
