Started as we finished
« on: August 12, 2018, 07:10:30 PM »
Well, here we are at the start of the 2018 season with the sky now beginning to darken again
at night and its time for our first normal meet up session, the peak of the Persied Meteor Shower and its been
rottten wet day hehe.

Pretty typical I guess but here's hoping its not sign of things to come given all the good weather
we've had this summer.

Hopefully folks won't get too despondent just yet.

I see David has organised a little event at the start of Septemember up in Abernethy which isn't too
far away for folks in the central belt if anyone is thinking of going.  If you haven't seen the post its on SGL

Blooming typical of the weather. Yeah seen that event in Abernethy. Went to the star party from two nights a couple of years back and it was good.

Yeah that seemed to be pretty successful, wonder why they never had another
one, probably the hassle in setting it up and running it.

Something to consider anyway, hopefully there will be plenty of clear skies before
that.  Need to dust off the equipment and figure out how to use it all again.

Hoping to do another Kathleen, but the costs, because it's a public park are a nightmare. 400 for public liability insurance alone. I was out of pocket albeit my own choice. I wanted the event to go well. All the council meetings, and others took a lot of time. But we hope to maybe have one in 2019. The mini meeting on 1st September is just a stopgap till we get our bums in gear to organise the next one.

I wasn't out of pocket 400 - sorry I wasn't clear lol. The 400 was covered by the entry fees. Just lots of stuff I bought, red lights, flagpoles and other stuff. But it was quite a task to organise.
