Hacked off
« on: December 19, 2014, 05:52:17 PM »
Well this bloomin winter is really bad astro wise, even worse than the last few.......
So much so I am seriously considering selling up!
If I do decide to sell the imaging rig I might just keep the star adventurer and do a bit of wide field...... But even that is an uncertainty.
So, if you fancy any of my kit let me know, I could easily be persuaded.

Don't do it.  You'll regret it later.

I retired at the end of July with good intentions of spending more nights observing and imaging.   Also those plans for an obsy were going to be put into practice.  Unfortunately in mid August I got a bug and was laid low for a couple of months (26 years of never having a day off sick finally caught up with me) so nothing's got done and I haven't been out at all.   I'm hoping that'll change soon.

Probably john, but crappy skies, a change in life circumstances and a floundering enthusiasm means it might be better to let it go.

John's right Gary, don't do it mate. This year's been crap and the previous couple haven't been great but you know what will happen if you do it - you'll miss some great skies! Come back to the light side for a bit like what you did before and rekindle that fascination for astronomy - it's still there mate!

We're losing far too many people to this crap weather - it's got to get better guys, just hang in there!.......

Stick in there Gary, Neil's right metal detecting is a good daytime hobby- I've found out recently. But I can sympathise with you, I've been tempted over this year to do the same, needing a new car etc - lost my astro mojo etc but I keep thinking I'll regret it. So the kit is still there gathering dust waiting for the right night.
Chin up mate

You need to come through - get some homebrew :)   This weather always depresses us astronomers but wait till early next year, bet we get a good few days in.  Also, you aint moved to your new house yet, wait till you are in (have you bought one yet?) and have a nice south facing garden, things might change then.....
Anyway, get in touch and pop through for a coffee

Gaz,

We all know the feeling, I've had it many times in the past few years, but don't do it. You need a weekend down at the cottage, helping me set up the obsy. That'll restore your faith  ;D

Chin up.

Yeah I know Martin, I'll see how the next few months go. Even if I do sell the bigger stuff I'll keep the star adventurer that'll give me reason to do the astro weekends.
How's the obsy coming along now?
Not long now till the csog weekend, looking forward to that!

I hope to find out this weekend when I head down. He has been getting on with it though, which is a bit worrying as he hasn't been back to check things with me - gulp!
