Just got my kit in this morning easy job to do so just hope the clouds stay away tonight.

Yeah looking good, do you get a new cover or spacer for the existing cover with
that kit ?  Looks good all the same, be nice to see a guide graph from before and
after for that kit.

Being a HEQ5 Pro owner myself, be interested to hear if that makes a big difference.

How much was the kit?

Cheers

Mmmm, I have pondered these for a while. I wouldn't get one just to reduce the noise as tbh, it doesn't really bother me. Now, if it improved guiding that would be a different matter.
Looks good BTW.......

this was the kit i got inc the pinion gear extractor  http://rowanastronomy.com/productsa1.htm#heq5beltkit

i did not like the noise from the mount when it had the gears reminds me of an old ford lol.
when i was out at loch doon last night and used it for the first time was good i did not have to make one side heavy to compensate for the play in the gears. i balanced the scope so it was spot on to see if it would suffer from back lash if that's what u call it while doing photography and i was doing 5 1/2 Min's exposures with a very small trail but had to magnify the picture to see it so all in i think i made the right choice in doing the mod.
