Is a quality Barlow (e.g., a Tele Vue) a good upgrade?
« on: September 08, 2014, 05:25:48 PM »
I'm on the case to upgrade my eyepieces and was wondering if I should also replace the humble 2X Barlow that I currently use with something like a Tele Vue (I'm not intending to buy lots of eyepieces, so the 1.6x/2x or even 3x magnification of a Barlow appeals.
Thoughts??

With regard to barlow lenses, the Celestron Ultima / Orion Shorty Plus (they are the same thing) 2x barlows are excellent and can be picked up used for around 50 if you keep your eye out for one. Otherwise  the TAL is the best budget barlow choice.

Thanks for the advice.  I'd love to try before I buy so I can compare with the one I'm using at the moment.
