Love it.   :D

Congratulations on your new venture and really wish you all the success it deserves to be.

One small concern though.  Are your contact email addresses safe from bots scraping them off the website?

Great idea Steve, especially with all the new interest in astronomy and  TV bringing astronomy to the masses.   Best of luck to you both in your new venture.

Hi everyone,

I've just re-read all of your comments and I'm blown away by all your support and positive comments it really means a lot to both James and myself - I really do mean it when I say we would never have been this far along the road without CSOG and all the folks on here!!  :)

Nice one. Good luck to you both.

If you need a hand with taxation matters I could help out.

Well there are no direct links in our email addresses on the contact page but they are there so if you have any advice that would be great.

Hi Steve,

When we finally get the website up and running I'm sure we'll get you a link in there and a plug on the home page at some point.

Great to see and hear of local astro projects.

Good luck.

Many thanks Paul, John and everyone else on the forum for your support and backing for this endeavour of ours. We are very grateful to CSOG members for their comments and help in getting us up and running and as Steve says your enthusiasm and assistance has definitely given us a great boost in setting up this enterprise.

We are now at a point where it really does begins in earnest and we will receive the dome and projection system next week. We have had training and familiarisation with the equipment and software and we will be practising and setting up our presentations and shows over the next couple of weeks. We now have our first bookings and have begun advertising, networking and marketing our services.

So "First Light" approaches......................

Thanks again to everyone and we hope to make this a great success.

Hi Folks,

First an update -

James and myself have had the planetarium for a couple of months now, we had some software issues initially but now have thankfully got a system that works really well. We have already been involved in a couple of big science outreach events and done several taster sessions for the local primary & secondary schools, all the feedback has been amazing so far and I'd estimate that over 500 kids and adults have seen our presentations. We have a job next week at a school in Newcastle and several quotes out for work all over the country, which is great.  :)

We are having a friends and family day at Kirkliston Bowling Club on Saturday 12th July starting around 2pm so everyone can see what we can do with the planetarium. I'd like to invite any CSOG'ers and their kids along for a tour of the solar system and beyond if you are available!!  :)

If you are interested in coming along please send me a PM or post on here so I have an idea of numbers.

Cosmos Planetarium invites you to Kirkliston Bowling Club
on Saturday 12th July from 2pm Now Sunday 13th from 2pm

Cosmos planetarium is a state of the art, fully digital, 360 immersive multi-media theatre experience, as well as a virtual view of the night sky we also play 360 immersive full-dome movies. You are guaranteed an amazing view of the night sky EVEN if it's cloudy and during the day!!!  ;D :)

Still away on holiday that date so I'll miss this unfortunately  :(

This may be a daft question.... can the dome be set up and used outside? (no wind and dry weather permitting of course!)

Great Kathleen, see you on the 12th.  :)

Sorry you can't make it mate, we setup at the bowling club for practise sessions sometimes, maybe you could stop by at one of those sessions.  :)

The planetarium is indoors only, even a small amount of wind will affect it as it's the difference in air pressure that keeps it up. They can be setup inside a suitable marquee, although that does adds an extra cost.

I'd like to come along to that steve.... thanks for the invite.

No problem, it will be great to have some CSOG'ers along on the day.  :)

Like to come along too if that's ok

David

Of course mate, you are more than welcome!!  :)

No worries Steve,
The Cricket Club are having a family fun day in August and as you know from the CSOG social meets it would be too tight for space inside,.

On the other hand, there will be bouncy castles there on the field so its maybe best you DONT set up outside in case any of the kids gets a bit carried away and gets the inflatables mixed up!!! ;D

Hope the day in Kirkliston goes well :)
