Cosmos Planetarium - A new company is born!!
« on: March 23, 2014, 05:56:54 PM »
Hi Folks,

Some of you will already be aware of this but as it's official now I thought I'd give you all an update -

Both me and James have been doing astronomy outreach for a good few years now at all different levels and really enjoy it and it's something we have become even more passionate about the more opportunities we've had take part. After I got made redundant at the end of January and with James having some free time we decided to look at the possibilities of taking astronomy outreach to the next level and make a small business out of it.

We came to the conclusion that the best way forward was to look at purchasing a mobile planetarium that we can take to schools, Scouting groups, science festivals, astronomy evening's, galas, corporate events etc etc...

So after 2 months of hard work, sorting out a business plan, funding, market research, web design, suppliers and so much more we have now registered the business and as of this weekend launched the website.

Here's a link - Cosmos Planetarium

We will be adding to the website as we go but as of now it should give you all a taster of what we are planning.  :)

I'd also like to add that I'm not sure I'd be as far along this road if I hadn't been pointed to the CSOG website by Craig (Blinky) all those years ago when I was just starting out in astronomy. So I'd just like to say a big thank you to Paul (G1ZmO) for setting up and running the website and all those that have helped me over the years on CSOG either in person or online.

So if any CSOG member would like to book us in the future for an astronomy outreach event, childrens birthday parties or for any other reason there will always be an extra discount available to all on here.  :)

In the meantime if you can check out the website, follow us on Twitter and when the page is set up in a few days on Facebook add us, that would be amazing. Also if you have any contacts in schools, cubs/brownies packs or any other company or organisation that you think would be interested in hiring us and could pass any business or contacts our way that would great.
:)

Thanks

Steve

Steve and James, exciting news! Warm congrats and all the very best from me too.
I definately think there is a gap in the market which your new venture can tap into.....and with your passion and enthuasim for astronomy it is sure to be a huge sucess. Will spread the word and let folks know about it.

Good luck guys.  I sincerely hope your business is successful enough to make a decent living out of something you are both clearly very passionate and enthusiastic about.  I look forward to those conversations at Harperrigg, when you wax lyrical about "Living the Dream" :)
