MAK127 Focus Mod
« on: February 01, 2014, 01:10:44 PM »
My Rigel Quickfinder arrived today so whilst fitting it I decided to think a little bit about the focus knob on the Mak 127. I am not sure if it is just me here but I find the focus horrible on this scope with me struggling to get the finer adjustments needing to lock in the focus. (I won't even start about how much it vibrates the scope whilst doing it as well)

Anyway, I decided to attempt my first bit of DIY to improve the fine adjustment options and the results are below.

All I can say is that it was cheap, easy and I can undo it all in a second. Not sure if anyone else has a better idea but this seems to at least help a fair bit when I was testing it in Daylight today.

In all seriousness however, is anyone out there who has or has had one of these Maks got a better solution than this or shall I stick with the clothes peg mod?

Nice and cheap. You could fit a crayford but that would be expensive... if your mod works then leave as is.

Sent from my Tab 3 using Tapatalk and fums.....

sticking a bit bit of pipe foam insulation round the focus nob makes it much easier to fine focus too
