SPC900NC LX Mod
« on: January 15, 2014, 02:05:43 PM »
I am attempting the LX mod on my recently acquired SPC900NC webcam. I don't have much experience with electronics, so I'm winging it a bit.

Started setting things up already.

Lets see if by the end of the day I'll have a working long exposure webcam or a piece of ruined junk. :o

Similar story here I think. Spent the whole afternoon at it and was as diligent and careful as my ability allowed me.

Not sure what I did wrong, but the serial connector doesn't show up on my laptop when plugged in. It's hard for me to test whether the cam still functions as I don't have the original lens.

Bit fed up with it for the moment. Will spend some time tomorrow seeing if I can work out what I did wrong and whether the camera still produces an image from the 'scope.

Hopefully you can get it working. Don't worry about not having the original lense you can still check if it's working by opening your capture software and passing a light over the sensor and by also covering the sensor - on screen you should see it going light and dark. That way you should at least be able to see if the CCD is still functioning to some extent anyway. Fingers crossed!!

Hopefully you will still be able to use it for planetary imaging if you can't do the LX mod in the end... Good Luck.  :)
