polar scope led

had set up my new scope the night just to get the hang of balancing it so am not scratching my head when a take it our.
i came across polar scope led in the menu and could move the bar so removed the 2 caps and in side the scope was lit up.
as new to this am not sure but do u need the light on to aline the polar scope. a have seen few videos on youtube and its on dim. ???

The LED is there to illuminate the reticule in the polar scope. When the mount is new the brightness will be set to maximum. The problem with this is that you will not be able to see polaris through the polar scope as the LED is so bright, use the control in the hand set to dim the LED until you can easily see polaris and still make out the circles that will be used to polar align the mount.
Once you have the brightness set just forget about it as the handset will remember the brightness setting when powered down.

Thanks gaz ya turned it down till just see it in the scope. Will hopefully get a clear night to get it set up a love new toys lol 😊

My Polar scope doesn't have an LED, which can be tricky. I use a tiny torch, with hardly any light output and shine it down the scope so I can see the reticules, then move it away to align. Not ideal, but the only way I can do it

Stfn, there are guides online to fitting a led to the polar scope. It's only in the last 2 or 3 years that they have been fitted as standard.
