GorillaPod tripods
« on: May 31, 2013, 08:26:30 PM »
Does anyone have experience of GorillaPod tripods?

Though I might get one to take on holiday instead of the full tripod

There seems to be quite a range of them on eBay (mostly cheap knock-offs I suspect)

ah I see the GP3 version would be needed and possibly with the addition of a ball head too.

My opinion mate -- Garbage. I have the heavy duty one and it cant even handle my dslr with the standard kit lens -- it droops and wont hold steady. i would hate to see it try to hold one of my big ones, more so, i dont trust it -- imagine it dropping with an expensive lens on it. It is probably ok for one of the light handheld cameras, but for DSLR, forget it

Others may have had good luck with it, but not myself lol

Cost me 5.15 to verify that you're absolutely right Dave (yes, I should have taken your advice)
The one I got was not an original Joby but it was supposed to hold 3kg. It flopped with my 550d & lens at 1.2kg
Ah well, sold it to a bloke at work for his bridge camera which will be fine on it so I've lost a total of 15 pence! lol
