If John is right and the weather improves over the weekend, I might take the solar scope out of its mothballs. The weather has been so bad for so long, I haven't used the 'scope since the beginning of May.

It would be good to see / image some Sunspots again.

I knew there would be someone I could blame Stu  : ))

For once it hasn't been me buying new kit, although I wonder if the new Revelation RC 'scopes are any good.   The 6" might be a very nice grab n' go, the 8" could be worth considering as well.

Nope   .... got too many 'scopes already (or so Anne tells me)

Oh dear!!

I think I'll have to take a big part of the blame too as in the past 2 weeks I've bought a 6" refractor, an orion accu-focuser, an astro modified Canon 1000D & a DMK21 mono. ::)

Jeff
William Optics 110FLT triplet APO with motorized Moonlite focuser & dedicated FF/FR at f5.9.
APM 50mm guidescope.
Atik 314L+ mono
QHY8 CCD camera.
QHY5 II M (Guide camera).
AZEQ6 Pro with EQMOD on a berlebach Planet tripod
8" Revelation Astro Dobsonian newtonian
Home building a 12-16" dob as well.

Sort of a mixture Kath.  Might be nice to try some imaging through this, but the 6" (focal length about 1350mm) would be a nice size to sit on my Skytee mount, alongside (say) my 20x50 binoculars - giving x20 mag in the binoc's and x67mag (20mm EP) through the 'scope.     Hmm .... tempted at 399, I must say, and it has been a long time since I bought any kit (none in 2012 in fact).

I must check the write-ups of users of this 'scope.

Kath - if I do end up getting one and it therefore rains for the next 3 months, I will blame you for egging me on   :P

 :-[ ....sorry Gary.....had to ask...

Well it sounds like you've already made your mind up Tom hehe.

Nice scopes, I've been sorely tempted and looking at RC's like the GSO
for a a while, mostly for imaging though as the large central obstruction
might  make them a little less suitable for visual.

Look forward to having a look through it Tom hehe...
