I quite fancy a trip to Whiteadder as I haven't been out there this season but "Clear Outside" has taken a turn for the worse and the forecast looks poor for tonight (used Duns as location) however, tomorrow is forecast clear, will keep a lookout on the forecast websites and maybe start a new post on Saturday morning.

Hi Lorne, are you still going down tonight ??  the wind is up and my scope is a 12 " meade so not probably not worth the large effort required to load van and bring it down. but im happy to come down to meet and pass some company seeing as its a bit remote site on your own.  my mobile is 07970 429 608.

Cheers

AstroStuart is this the Stuart that knows Martin Sey?

I might pop down if it stops raining! I am after Milky way shots with the camera and after Wednesday's failed attempt if it is clear down my old neck of the woods I will venture down.

Cheers

I'm definitely heading through, the wind is forecast to drop slightly.... I'll probably use my car as a wind break anyway, my memory of Whiteadder (apart from the fantastic skies) is the freezing wind!

Right so. I will be there maybe about 10ish too. Away to google maps some possible locations for other shots on the way back. Had an idea about Tantallon Castle and the Milky way as it low in the East just now.

Want to practice some ETTR after seeing someone get Milky way shots from Singapore with a 24mm, f2.8, ISO 6400 30s shots. Before processing you would not have thought there was anything there.

See you all later.

Neil

p.s. I am super layering up as it might be brass monkeys.

Thank people for the banter and welcome last night, (Lorne, Kath, Neil and Jamesg) and for letting me view with your scopes, pity about the wind, but the clear skies made up for it. Hope to see you all down there again at some point.

I managed to get camera to work the settings needed adjusting as it wanted to auto focus on the remote, once i had cancelled it all was good, the iso of6400 was a bit grainy though on my Pentax K5 but at least now i have a grasp of what I need to do, so looking forward to my next outing, how did you get on at Tantallon? Here is one from Whiteadder.
