Got a new toy today
« on: May 22, 2013, 02:11:46 PM »
Just took delivery this morning of a new Skywatcher Startravel 80 OTA and Iv'e been trying it out in the back garden. I t came with the standard 10 and 25mm Skywatcher ep's and they both performed well but as usual the views from the 25mm were sharper. I then dropped in my Revelation Astro 2.5x barlow and both standard ep's performed very well. Then I focused on a chimney top about a mile away and dropped in my BST 8MM which pushed the mag up to 125x and the views were crystal clear with loads of detail.
All in all I'm impressed with this little scope which came with a nice padded carry bag which has plenty of room for ep's, books etc and it even takes a lightweight table top tripod I bought to use with it when I'm at my caravan or going abroad on holiday. A bargain I think for 59 from 365 Astronomy, I think I must have got the last one in stock as I see their now being advertised at 69, so I must have got in just in time  :)
