Title: Galloway Star Camp
Post by: perthskies on September 08, 2019, 12:02:51 AM
Just a wee heads up folks. Today we got some great news. As a lot of you may be aware, we have a Star Camp every year at Drumroamin Campsite..
Well this is our 10th anniversary, and it just happens that a film production team have asked to film us for a mini documentary on Amateur Astronomy in Scotland. I'm so excited at this, I had to share. Please come along and help us celebrate our great hobby.

I know this coincides with Kielder but moon phases dictated dates.

That's worth considering David. We were thinking about Kielder as usual but that could be a game changer. I will discuss with those on the "dark side" to see if they are interested.

Hi david. Newbie here. I was already thinking about visiting down there on that week. Just to have a chat and hopefully get some advice on what kind of telescope I should go for.

What's your budget, decent binoculars are a good place to start. Here is a link that has beginner scopes https://www.firstlightoptics.com/beginner-telescopes.html (https://www.firstlightoptics.com/beginner-telescopes.html)

Hope to see you at Galloway

Should have said I already have a meade lx200 8". But looking to improve on that scope. I only use it visually. Was thinking of the lx90 12" .but read so many conflicting reviews.

That was interesting, had a video call from the director of the production company. New linen required. She asked many questions, and asked how was I in front of cameras, I said well I'm here now. So looks like possible 40 minute Galloway Documentary. 🤪She also wants to meet before the event to get my background. Drunk old fart with some astro knowledge. Canny wait, This could be huge for us guys.
